Camp Adventure 2008
Dear Parents,
Hello! This is Alice Chen, the summer camp director for the US Embassy’s Camp Adventure this summer. I am please to tell you that despite the Olympics, we are still holding our summer camp for 8 weeks, from June 16th to August 7th from 9:00am to 4:00pm from Monday to Friday.
This year, the camp will be held at BCIS (Beijing City International School), which is at Baiziwan Nan Er Road, Chaoyang District. The fee for this summer will be 375USD per week and 400USD per week if registered after the start of the camp. Transportation is available from designated bus stops and lunch is included! This camp is for 4 to 13 year old English speaking children because our camp counselors are hired from America with little or no background in Mandarin. This summer camp will be filled with fun and I really hope your child would be able to join us! Attached are registration form, medical form, direct bank transfers ect and also a list of weekly themes. Below is a list of times where I would be holding info sessions where you would be able to find me to ask questions, give me the registration and medical forms, and pay the camp fees. Week 1 (June 16th-20th)
Dancin’ Through The Decades
Terrific tunes abound as we celebrate sound! Come rock and shout at our musical blowout and shuffle your Happy Feet to the beat of our Penguin Party Revue. Put on your dancing shoes and move and groove to the Camp A Beat. It’s time to Bee-Bop, Hip Hop, Jump and Jive ‘till you drop! On and on the beatbox plays as Camp we are Dancin’ Through the Decades!
Week 2 (June 23th-27th)
Whoville Whoopla & Hullabaloo
What’s all the whoopla in Whoville about? Who is causing this hullabaloo? We’ll ask Horton, that’s who! In the faintest of breeze . . . on a small dust of air, he hears a small yelp for help. Through thick and through thin, he’ll do whatever he can to help his small friends. Join Camp Adventure™ in the Jungle of Nool and find out what you’d do if you heard a who!
Week 3 (June 30th-July 4th)
Underwater Ocean Commotion
Submerge into a swirling sea of mystery and search for the lost civilization of Atlantis. Plunge into Poseidon’s playground where enchanted tunes lead to secret mermaid lagoons. Dive in deep and discover crustacean keys that unlock the greatest mystery in history! Join our ocean odyssey and jive with Camp Adventure . . . as we create an Underwater Ocean Commotion!
Week 4 (July 7th-11th)
Heroes, Old Glory, & the American Story
Our American spirit is bursting with pride and the flag of freedom is flying high for the Fourth of July. Join our nation in celebration of heroic stories symbolized by Old Glory. Heroism happens everyday and makes a difference in every way. Celebrate heroic acts, both great and small, that make our country the greatest of all. Stand up and cheer as our Grand Ole Flag comes near. Come celebrate Heroes, Old Glory, and the American Story.
Week 5 (July 14th-18th)
Munchkins & Magic Shoes
Join Dorothy, Toto, the Tinman, the Lion and the Scarecrow on an adventure down the yellow brick road . . . as they encounter lions, tigers, and bears- Oh my! Head for the hills somewhere over the rainbow that leads to the magical, mystical, enchanted emerald City of Oz. There you’ll find the answer to all your hopes and dreams if only you can get past the doorman first! Follow the yellow brick road!
Week 6 (July 21st-25th)
Super Splash Beach Bash
Pack your bags! Don’t forget your sunscreen and shades! We are going to have a whale of a time and lots of fun in the summer sun. Bring your surfboard and swimsuit . . . and make a big splash at our Camp A beach bash! We’ll play silly sorts of water sports and have hysterical fun on the high seas.
Week 7 (July 28th- August 1st)
Wild Things & Warm Fuzzies
Let the wild, wacky rumpus start! Join Max and our Camp Adventure™ crew as we journey to the Four Corners of the Earth and the land where the Wild Things are! Learn monster manners and mysterious magic tricks that will tame the wild things . . . and make you king or queen of them all! Go on a monster Hunt, play Monster Mingle and “Monster, May I.” Make your own Monster Morse Code and learn that even monsters want to be friends!
Week 8 (August 4th- 7th)
Olympic Great Wall Gamefest
Ni Hao! Follow the torch east to the Great Wall of China, and to Beijing for the great global gamefest. From Olympics and games, dragons and dynasties to pandas and palaces, we’ll uncover the festivals and friendships of our Far East friends. Celebrate centuries of songbirds in spring, silkworms, and rice dumplings. So set sail on your sampan and follow the cricket’s chirp to Camp Adventure to explore folklore of China and the “New Beijing!”
